I need a good stop smoking tip?

January 2nd, 2010 | by Jeff Trikoleti |

My doctor told me that I have to stop smoking, as if i did not know already, can somebody give me a stop smoking tip that works, thanks

Hi Holly, the best tip I can offer you is pop over to this website http://www.quitsmoking-daily.com and get the product that stops the nicotine withdrawal symptoms, these are the real cause of people going back smoking, beat them and you beat the habit, best of luck.

I’ve tried just about every method there is out there and there is only one I can recommend - NLP! It eliminates the cravings.
Gum patches and all the other just did not cut it for me, not to mention cold turkey which was the hardest, I even tried the electric cig and it is just no match to the real thing.

it’s the one that got me off the cigs and smoke free for GOOD even without gaining weight! :)
    Good luck kicking the habit!

Discipline. That’s all I can say to prevent yourself from it but if you can’t resist it’s calling try this site. it gives information for those who can’t help themselves quitting.

Write it all down! As you can see, we are all different and therefore react to different triggers. Rather than hoping to find that one killer article that changes your mind, try doing it yourself.

We all know the facts but our unconscious doesn’t care because it is driven by an addiction to nicotine. It’s up to our rational self to be smarter. List all the reasons you won’t stop smoking and then answer them… honestly. Then questions your answers. Be tough and you’ll find that slogan or mantra to repeat to yourself and change your behaviour. That’s pretty much what NLP does - create the language to change your thoughts and hence your actions.

    This might help

    Hi

The first thing you really need to do is decide you want to stop. Then just to make sure, come up with the reasons why you want to stop. I know this may sound a little strange, but it is essential. If you are wanting to stop because everyone around you is wanting/telling you to stop, I’m afraid it will never happen. You really do have to have your own reasons to have a fighting chance.

There is an exercise at the beginning of the free manual you can download from http://www.kickthesmokinghabitnow.com, that helps you to make this first step of having a personal reason.

Most smokers want to stop and do indeed try, but only one in three succeeds in stopping permanently before age 60. By this time, much harm may have been done to the body - some of it irreversible.

So, I figure I only really smoke ’cause I’m either stressed out, drinking, I just had crazy hard sex, or I’m jazzed to the fucking gills…or some combination of all of the above. There’s this girl, too, she’s got this mad boot collection…and, I swear to god, I know smoking is unhealthy and all, but watching her put a smoke in her mouth…hell, ANYTHING long and cylindrical, just makes me want to smoke a whole pack. Any suggestions on how I could quit? Or, at least, where to get a few cartons of non-fsc camels? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, i’m suprised your ecig experience didn’t go to well as many people have quit smoking cigarettes this way. Yes will power is still needed, and the nicotine kick may not be exactly the same, but their are better models now available :)

The Ecig is the best alternative method to stop smoking cigs, and still takes time to ween off nicotine for good!

Anyway, all the best in your quest.

Hypnosis has shown to be a highly successful way to quit smoking. There is 1 well known study that shows about a 70% rate of success at 1 year. This same study showed that only 5% of people who tried to stop on their own were still not smoking at 1 year! Al the other methods had success ates somewhere in-between.

When my wife got pregnant, I got serious about finding a way to stop smoking. I mean, it was one thing when it was just my health I was risking - I always went outside to smoke, so that my wife wouldn’t get second hand smoke. But now that we have a little one on the way, it’s different. I want to be around to see her grow up, get her first tooth, get married, all of those things. I don’t want to miss out, so I’m going to stop smoking. Better for my health, better for hers, and better for my wife’s.

I’m a stop smoking hypnotherapist, just take every day one day at a time and at the end of every day give yourself a pat on the back for doing so well, to think of being a non smoker forever is just too big, every time you get a craving, rate it as it grows out of 10 i.e. starts at 1/10 then increases upto 10/10 and then subsides, when it’s at it’s max, you know it is going to subside very soon, the cravings will then go away again for another 20mins - an hour. As the days go by you will find the intensity and frequency of the cravings will decrease. When I gave up I carried an unopened packet of cigarettes with me everywhere I went, so I couldn’t go through the “I’m so mad, I’m going to buy a packet of cigarettes” routine, because the cigarettes were right their and it was almost to easy to smoke them. If that doesn’t work see a good hypnotherapist.

Yes! You need to want to stop. I have been trying for years. Actually I was smoke free for ten years until 12 years ago when a stressful incident made me an addict again. I have to thank Jeff for motivating me to quit again. It has been a week now since my last cigarette, and so far no urges to light up. I don’t understand why, before I always got them before. Wish me luck, I’ll inform you if the success is permanent.
