Any advice to have success using Champix the stop smoking pill?

October 17th, 2009 | by Jeff Trikoleti |

My father has been a smoker for more than 30 years and is going to start taking Champix the stop smoking pill. Anyone take this before? Have any success stories with it? And also how long should u take it for? It comes in a 2 week dosage so after 2 weeks is it supposed to work or should u take it again? Please any helpful tips for champix to be successful would be great!! Thank u so much!
No I mean Champix. Its called Chantix in America.

I used chantix for 3 months..it can be taken for as long as you need it. It worked great..no cravings!! you take it for a week before you stop smoking, then you give up your ciggies. Works great!!

I would guess that you mean CHANTIX. It works great, but just be sure to do the online program that comes with it. Thats the secret to success.

Be VERY CAREFUL using it. It has been involved in many Lawsuits. My son and his wife both took It. My son was so mean while he was on it . He was living with us at the time he came in one night and threatened to beat the Crap out of me. We fought the whole time he was on it. He threatened Suicide. And had bad road rage when he was driving. He always wanted to fight with me. I ended up kicking him out and we have done nothing but fight since he took it. And he ended up going back to smoking after he was on it.

I was just wondering if he got mean right away. If not how long was he on the Champix before he got mean. I am on it and so is my husband but I would like to know some of the warning signs.

    Hi,
My partner and myself tried champix (as is in UK) about a year ago, I found that it altered both our moods. I myself felt more down and prone to crying ( I was even prescribed antidepressants) while my partner got very aggressive. We both therefore started smoking again..
However I have retried champix again (started nearly 3 weeks ago) and my partner is using patches. His moods have been fine, a little quiet at times but this is just withdrawal of the ciggies. If I start to feel down or upset, I have to tell myself not to be so indulgent or selfish with my feelings and emotions and to concentrate on why I am doing it in the first place (for my children) and that seems to help me through.. I have had the occasional one or two but as soon as I inhaled a couple of times they tasted horrible.. I just hope I can keep up the good work, without turning into a wreck :0)
